Never too late to learn

29 assistants, masons, construction teachers and contractors were trained in good construction practices.

“I read it well, but using a staircase was something I had never done. Now I can and with that, I can already draw a plan of a room and even a small house, we are very satisfied and grateful for the experience, ”said Don Miguel who has 26 years of working as a work teacher.

Don Miguel is one of 29 assistants, masons, construction teachers and contractors, who were trained in good construction practices, by the Estelí Institute for Human Promotion (INPRHU) with support from Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua.

During the workshop, important topics related to architectural design of housing, location, risk analysis, mitigation works, distribution of spaces, progressive improvements, construction systems and how to make a portfolio were addressed.

Participants had the opportunity to make physical surveys of buildings and draw some plans, which will allow them to offer a more comprehensive service to their customers. The workshop lasted two days and was taught by Architect María Isabel Parés; This joint effort strengthens the infrastructure projects that are executed between INPRHU Estelí and Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua.
