Habitat for Humanity has assisted 29 million people by taking on the growing challenges of access and quality of housing in the US. UU. and all over the world

Managua, Nicaragua (November 27, 2019):

Every 21 seconds Habitat for Humanity helped a family access a new or better-equipped home, somewhere in the world during 2019. In total, Habitat has assisted more than 7 million people, and has gained support of more than 1.4 million volunteers. Those are some of the contributions that appear in the annual report of the fiscal year 2019 of Habitat for Humanity that was published on November 25.

“2 of the 7 million people were from Latin America and for us it is a pride to know that despite the complications that occurred in Nicaragua, we managed to work with 710 families and train 1,743 people in various subjects. Our team continues to do its best to reach more and more families, and when you work with your heart nothing is impossible, ”said Frank Matus-Aguirre, Country Director of Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua.

Since its foundation in 1984, Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua has worked hand in hand with more than 48 thousand people to improve their housing conditions. Each of these people has a Habitat history, Jaqueline who lives in the city of Estelí is one of them; He allied with Habitat Nicaragua and since he has his decent home, he managed to install a sewing workshop that allows him to generate income for his family.

“In sewing I am doing well and since the workshop is right here, I can take care of my child and the house. I also do nacatamales to sell and help me a little more. I am very grateful to Habitat, ”Jaqueline tells us.
