In Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua, we united in community to face Covid-19. We execute a fundraising campaign: Support a family #wearecommunity, which aims to help 1500 families living in the dry corridor to have the basic supplies to face the pandemic.
Until July 31th thanks to the response of embassies, companies and individual donors we have reached 972 families from La Paz Centro, Estelí, San Rafael del Sur, Ocotal, Mozonte, Dipilto, Managua, Masaya and Carazo.
Families received a basic aid kit, hygiene kit (includes reusable soaps, detergent, chlorine, disinfectant, and face masks); Those who live in areas where there is no access to tap water also received a safe water kit (filter to ensure that they wash their hands with water that is not contaminated).
Additionally, families also received a coronavirus prevention manual, with useful and practical information. Thanks to the alliance with Foundation 10 (from Channel 10-National Television), we managed to bring 500 prevention manuals to the same number of families on the South Caribbean Coast, (Bluefields and Laguna de Perlas).
We have not reached the goal yet, we continue working and requesting donations to support 1500 families. We know that the needs in the midst of the health crisis are increasing, but we also know that nicaraguan people are generous.
