Cemex makes a generous donation

* About 100 families affected by hurricanes Eta-Iota, will receive water filters, hygiene kits and housing reconstruction kits

Given the call to support the families that were affected by the Eta-Iota hurricanes, made by Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua, CEMEX was one of the first companies to say: Present!

Thanks to its collaboration, Habitat Nicaragua will be able to bring aid to 100 families, providing them with a water filter, a hygiene kit that includes soaps, alcohol and reusable face masks to prevent Covid-19, and a housing reconstruction kit (with 14 item-tools and materials).

“We are very grateful to CEMEX, which has been a long-time friend and ally of Habitat Nicaragua. We know of their commitment to social causes and once they are showing the level of humanism they have, by bringing support to the families that were seriously affected by these two hurricanes ”, said Frank Matus-Aguirre, Country Director of Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua.

The official delivery took place on Monday, November 30Th. From left to right (Ana Gabriela López, Social Coordinator of Cemex and Frank Matus -Aguirre, Country Director of Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua).

CEMEX’s support includes both phases of the intervention, so that the beneficiary families will be able to count on more inputs to be able to recover. “In these difficult times for many Nicaraguan families, it is necessary that we all contribute in some measure. That is why CEMEX is collaborating with kits so that affected families prioritize health care and rebuild their homes”, Christtina Solano, Communications and Corporate Relations Manager at CEMEX Nicaragua, said.

Habitat is executing an emergency response project, the first phase includes the delivery of water filters and a hygiene kit. The second phase, which is in the fundraising stage, is to deliver reconstruction kits, which include zinc sheets and a series of tools to carry out safe construction work.
