Together we will rebuild

Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua and El Halcón stores start campaign to bring shelter-box to families affected by hurricanes Eta-Iota

Families affected by hurricanes Eta-Iota began to rebuild their homes as soon as the rain stopped. Most have removed the little material that was useful from the rubble and up temporary structures in order to return to their homes. At Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua, we know that the reconstructive process is just beginning and to build a solid foundation, it is necessary to bring them help.

We have produced a safe reconstruction manual, a brochure with basic recommendations and today, we are raising our voice to tell you that: ¡Together we will rebuild! To achieve this we have partnered with Almacenes El Halcón, who, in addition to making a first donation of 12-foot zinc sheets, have opened their doors so that all people can contribute.

To be part of this campaign, people can attend any of the 7 branches of Almacenes El Halcón nationwide, where they will find a Habitat space with a list of materials and tools that are part of the construction kit or shelter-boxt, hat we will be taking to the families affected by hurricanes Eta-Iota. Each person can donate from a pound of nails to a sheet of zinc, according to their possibilities or make a contribution in cash in the piggy banks that they will find there.

“We are equipping ourselves with a construction kit, so that families can rebuild their homes, using basic and quality tools. We are talking from nails, hammers, tape measure to zinc sheets. Having an ally like El Halcón is an honor for us”, said Frank Matus-Aguirre, Director of Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua.

The agreement between Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua and El Halcón was signed this Tuesday, November 24th, and the campaign is already in effect. The call to people is to donate what is within their reach, but also to share the post on social networks so that more people find out and can contribute.

“It is an honor to join Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua, we have known and worked for years, we know the work they do and in these times where the country has suffered a lot of damage, from our social responsibility we have decided not only to provide a contribution but also make our branches available as a collection center to receive the materials ”, said José Alberto Cajina, Manager of Almacenes El Halcón.
