First phase of response to emergencies due to hurricanes Eta-Iota concludes. Habitat sends first water filters, hygiene kits and safe construction manuals
The first collection phase to bring aid to families who were affected by the Eta-Iota hurricanes in the Nicaraguan Caribbean has now ended. We want to thank all the people, companies and embassies who said present! So that we could buy and ship hygiene kits, safe water kits, and safe construction manuals (in Miskito). And of course to each of the people, artists, influencers and businesses that shared our publication. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
All kits will be delivered by local partners, such as WaterAid Nicaragua, which works in the Caribbean area on clean water, hygiene and sanitation issues. They will ensure that aid reaches the most remote and needy communities.
“We know that there are many hands and hearts united, we know that first-hand help such as food and clothing has already been done; It is precisely for this reason that at Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua, we decided to focus on hygiene kits to prevent Covid-19 and safe water kits”, said Frank Matus-Aguirre, Country Director of Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua.
Matus added that this is only the first phase of response to the emergency and that the second is already underway, it is a new collection campaign to be able to send self-construction kits also known as shelter boxes. People, companies, businesses and embassies that want to join can do so by donating one or more construction tools.
Together we will rebuild! It is the name of this new campaign, which is already active on our social media. If you want to be part of it, you can donate directly through our website or through our bank accounts
